It is becoming increasingly difficult to actually know what Internet Marketing methods and techniques you should pursue, even the so called experts and gurus can only agree to disagree. Many propose what we call the 'magic bullet', but which should you follow? is it something traditional like Adwords, Email, or SEO. Maybe something that leverages new techniques like Article Writing, Syndication or Video. Maybe it's something fashionable, maybe something that isn't like CRO? The choices seem endless because they are!
Once You've figured out what to do how do you actually leverage and then monetise your 'magic bullet'. If you choose Google do you leverage Organic Search or Adwords. If it's Adwords do you manage your budget wisely or do you go for broke with high visibility on two or three competitive keywords. If it's organic do you focus on off site link building or on site optimising your copy? Even when you've made a decision your still confused.
The world of Internet Marketing is complex, confusing and resource intensive universe to immerse yourself.
We work with our clients (much like a) PSF by either:
You've heard one expert say you need to do this and the other says you need to do that. So what's the truth, well generically speaking they are both right and both wrong. What we mean by that is that actually you shouldn't rely on a magic bullet if it works for you, why not do both? The key to understanding how to market yourself on the internet is based on who you are, what you are selling, your budget and the size of your company and your business goals and aspirations and even your competitors. Each company even within the same market is different therefore shouldn't they be marketing differently.
The web is changing (and fast ) and so internet marketing changes with it as technologies change and others emerge and are born, some are slowly adopted with others become fashionable quickly while others become unfashionable. We take some of the more traditional elements of Internet marketing such as SEM and combine them with the new like Video Optimisation and Twitter. We also combine the more fashionable elements such as Facebook with the less like CRO.
The key is to not limit yourself to doing one thing like the experts say and putting all your egg in one basket but to develop a range of elements that complement themselves and your business and develop an overall strategy that doesn't just work on paper but actually practically works for you.
If we take SEO as an example then did you know it's 50 times easier to get a video ranked in the top 10 in Google than it is for a normal text page yet how many SEOs offer Video Optimisation.
Do you want to make more money out of Google? One way is to do something that combines spending no money and also has nothing to do with SEO (or Advertising in Adwords)!
The key issues of internet Marketing are Visibility and Connectivity not link building, optimisation, making video or any form of advertising. Experts tell us that the Web is great for the little guy as it's a level playing field. This is true and the web makes it easier for you to compete with other companies but it also makes it easier for them to compete with you including the smaller companies that otherwise couldn't compete with you. This makes doing business on the web very competitive. It's not enough to have a site with some sort of presence. Success is about making yourself visible to your customers and connecting with them in a way that enhances your brand. Naturally then the advantage that large companies hold off the web they initially hold on it too. The web doesn't make it easier for you it makes it more difficult.
